|Description:||The Veteran & Military Peer Support Specialist is a full-time telephone customer service position that provides confidential information & referral service to Veterans, Active Duty Military and their families for health & social service information. This position assists callers by providing referrals & advocacy, performing preliminary screening for eligibility for public & community services, promoting community services when appropriate, and identifying gaps in services.|
|Duties:||Answer inbound calls and provide necessary information, problem assessment, referral and follow-up appropriate to caller's needs.|
Assist callers in selecting appropriate resources, and contact resources when necessary to facilitate service delivery.
Promote community services to callers when appropriate to encourage use of eligible services.
Maintain accurate records of services requested & provided, using online database system & MS Office software.
Must utilize recognized professional & agency standards while working to address the caller's needs.
|Qualifications:||Must be a Veteran or Active Duty Military Personnel.|
One year of call center experience is required.
Relevant degree, or a combination of directly related college course work and experience may be substituted.
One year of Information & Referral experience or extensive knowledge of health & social services in San Diego County is preferred.
Must possess excellent customer relations skills and the ability to work with various cultural and socioeconomic groups, including people in crisis, transition and homeless.
Bilingual capabilities highly desirable.
